Did you know that recruiters will sometimes repeat the same question throughout the course of an interview to see how consistent a candidate is in answering?
It may seem like it, but the recruiter’s goal in repeating questions isn’t necessarily to trip you up as if you were a suspect in a criminal investigation. The purpose of the interview is to get to know you as best they can to determine how well matched you are for various job openings they are trying to fill. The initial interview with you will be focused on developing a rapport, a process that may take some time. As a recruiter builds rapport and establishes trust with you, they may learn new or more detailed information by repeating questions later in an interview.
Now that you know the reason for the interview déjà vu, use it as an opportunity to provide as much relevant information as you can to help the recruiter understand you and your career goal. That understanding could help you land your next job.
